Akkodis is seeking a Network Security Engineer for a Contract with a client in Plano, TX. You will monitor and manage enterprise web‑proxy, DNS, and SD‑WAN environments to ensure secure and stable network performance.
Rate Range: $45/hour to $53/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Network Security Engineer job responsibilities include:
Monitoring and managing Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA), DNS, VPN, and web‑proxy environments, using tools like Datadog, ThousandEyes, and Vital‑net to detect and resolve issues.
Performing first‑ and second‑level troubleshooting for proxy, DNS, and VPN incidents, engaging vendors for escalations, and providing 24/7 on‑call support when required.
Applying routine firmware and software updates, supporting maintenance windows, and performing backup/restore of network device configurations.
Implementing approved network changes—including VPN tunnels, DNS updates, and F5/Proxy policy adjustments—while following strict ITIL change‑management processes.
Updating network diagrams, maintaining IP address documentation, hardware inventories, and creating knowledge‑base articles for web gateway, VPN, and DNS.
Coordinating with hardware vendors for RMAs, collaborating with network and security teams, and ensuring stability across SD‑WAN, F5 LTM/GTM, and Infoblox environments.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related engineering discipline.
8+ years of hands‑on experience in enterprise networking, including routing/switching, security, and cloud‑network integrations.
Strong technical expertise in SD‑WAN (Viptela/Meraki), F5 LTM/GTM, Infoblox DNS, and Zscaler (ZIA & ZPA), with the ability to troubleshoot complex proxy, VPN, and DNS issues.
Proficiency in managing network changes, maintaining documentation, and supporting global network operations using tools like ThousandEyes, Datadog, and NetFlow analyzers.
