Location of Position: Positions are located throughout the State of Maryland. The recruitment is open and continuous, and never closes. The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives, creating safer communities, and fostering equitable systems. We seek passionate individuals for the role of Social Worker I, Criminal Justice, to make a meaningful impact on youth and the community. A Social Worker I, Criminal Justice, is an intermediate-level professional providing clinical and therapeutic social work services in behavioral health to the most clinically demanding youth involved with DJS. Minimum Qualifications: Education determined by the State Board of Social Work Examiners under licensing requirements for Social Workers. No experience required. Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications: Must be licensed as a Graduate Social Worker (by June 30, 2018), Master Social Worker (on or after July 1, 2018), Certified Social Worker, or Certified Social Worker-Clinical prior to appointment. If not licensed at the time of application, apply pending receipt of the license and submit proof upon licensing. Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland if duties require vehicle operation. Special Requirements: Must meet continuing education standards, complete training in group counseling techniques, and possibly complete additional certified courses. Must qualify for and complete the Entry Level Training Academy. Selection Process: Provide complete information on your application to demonstrate qualifications. Examination Process: Applications will be rated based on education, training, and experience. Provide accurate, complete information and relevant documentation.
