This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by Immunization Branch by providing scientific leadership within the Immunization Branch.

The Research Scientist Staff (Epidemiology/Biostatistics) serves as a subject - matter expert in the analysis, evaluation, and dissemination of data from the California Immunization Registry (CAIR) and other immunization - related datasets. The incumbent develops and applies epidemiologic and biostatistical methods to identify immunization coverage gaps, inform program strategies, and advance statewide efforts to reduce vaccine - preventable disease inequities.  The Research Scientist Staff (RSS) provides advanced expertise to epidemiologists, CDPH collaborators, and data analysts and external collaborators. This position contributes to planning, improving and maintaining data systems supporting immunization programs. The RSS (Epi/Bio) may also serve as a lead to lower-level scientists.

The incumbent works under the general direction of the Research Scientist Supervisor I of the Immunization Registry and Preparedness Unit.
