About The Role The Medical Scribe/Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by accurately documenting patient encounters and assisting with clinical and administrative tasks. This position ensures that medical records are complete, precise, and compliant with healthcare regulations, thereby enhancing the efficiency and quality of patient care. The role involves direct interaction with patients, gathering vital health information, and facilitating smooth clinical workflows. By managing documentation and assisting with routine medical procedures, the Medical Scribe/Medical Assistant allows providers to focus more on patient care and less on paperwork. Ultimately, this position contributes to improved patient outcomes and optimized healthcare delivery within a fast-paced clinical environment.
Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant or Medical Scribe training program Required.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications - Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Medical Scribe Specialist (CMSS) Required.
- Experience working in a clinical or hospital setting with direct patient interaction.
- Familiarity with billing and coding procedures related to medical documentation.
- Additional training in phlebotomy, EKG, or other clinical support skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities - Accurately document patient histories, physical exams, and other relevant clinical information in real-time during patient visits.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and performing basic medical procedures under supervision.
- Manage and organize patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Coordinate patient flow by scheduling appointments, managing referrals, and communicating effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Support administrative duties including data entry, billing code documentation, and inventory management of medical supplies.
