Clean Creatives is seeking researchers to contribute to the 2026 edition of our premier research report, the F-List. This report documents relationships between fossil fuel companies and advertising and PR firms worldwide, with the goals of providing transparency for communications professionals and brands and better understanding the communications strategies of major polluters.
In its sixth year, the 2026 F-List will seek to present the most current picture of these relationships possible, with an added goal of filling in specific geographic gaps in our past research.
Past editions of this report have attracted wide coverage in communication industry press, extensive online conversation, and significantly impacted agencies’ practices. We are interested in uncovering data that helps make news and shapes the advertising and PR industry’s business goals.
We are seeking either an individual researcher, or a team, to identify which agencies are responsible for promoting fossil fuel companies and lobbying groups in (1) North America and LATAM, (2) UK and Europe, and (3) MENAT and brand studios.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized and intuitive, and have previous experience analyzing data or conducting research. We would like to work with researchers who are curious and self-motivated and who can consistently dedicate at least 15-20 hours of time every week during the 8-10 week research period. If you are the type of person who likes to search through databases and go through pages of Google search results, this is for you!
This researcher or team will analyze public sources to find proof of advertising and PR agencies working on fossil fuel campaigns. These sources include:
We will train researchers on how to find and record contracts and provide a list of countries and companies to guide their research. The researcher(s) should be comfortable working with multi-lingual sources, or in translation, to accurately and comprehensively identify key data in relevant languages.
We are especially interested in candidates who have experience researching the region and candidates who are familiar with company names and structures in the oil and gas industry and/or the advertising and PR industry. However, this experience is not required.
This is a paid contract position which will start on April 1, 2026 and end on June 15, 2026. Compensation will be $5000 for all deliverables.
Applicants from any country are welcome to apply. Please send resumes and 2-3 research work samples to Clean Creatives Head of Research Nayantara Dutta (nayantara@fossilfree.media) with one of the following subject lines:
Applicants are encouraged to apply by Feb 21.
