Position Overview

The Equipment Operator will drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery during the construction process.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)

· Safely and efficiently operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, backhoes, etc.

· Operate machinery in accordance with OSHA safety standards

· Communicate with Foreperson as to the daily job specifications.

· Perform daily maintenance and inspections of equipment/machinery; refer major problems to foreperson.

· Performs all duties safely and in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures.

· Follow directions of the foreperson as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project.

· Clean the machines regularly (e.g., sweeping the cabs, removing trash, cleaning the interior, etc.)

· Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations and servicing of equipment.

· Various other duties as assigned.

· Ability to communicate appropriately with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

· Ability to follow directions.

· Knowledgeable of materials and equipment needed to perform tasks.

· Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.

· Must be willing travel and work away from home when required.

· Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.

Education/Professional Experience

· High School Diploma or equivalent education; and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Must possess valid licenses and certifications.
