Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Summary
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily on-site operations of construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with plans, specifications, and local regulations. This role coordinates subcontractors, site staff, and suppliers while maintaining quality standards and jobsite safety.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities from start to completion
Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, labor crews, and material deliveries
Enforce jobsite safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
Review plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure accurate execution of work
Conduct daily site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety
Resolve field issues, conflicts, and construction challenges in real time
Maintain project schedules and communicate delays or changes to the Project Manager
Ensure work meets quality standards and complies with building codes and regulations
Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
Track daily reports, inspections, and project documentation
Coordinate inspections with local authorities and ensure approvals are obtained
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; construction management or related education preferred
5+ years of experience in commercial or residential construction supervision (varies by project type)
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sequencing
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and schedules
Proven leadership and communication skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Proficiency with construction management software and basic computer skills
OSHA 30 certification preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to work on active construction sites in varying weather conditions
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
