This Cashier/Sales Clerk position earns competitive pay of $ 13.38/ hourly. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN CASHIER/SALES CLERK

As a Cashier/Sales Clerk, you spend your day registering borrowers, issue library cards and keep records of new registrants, and assist with patron's library services. Other duties include participation, and assist in planning and coordinating library events, programs, and cultural arts events. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include keeping café shop supplies current and assist with re-stocking merchandise. You generally assist with balancing the cash register at the start and finish of each shift, open and close the facility according to established policies and procedures. You also assist with greeting, purchasing items and making suggestions to customers while providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in customer service, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CASHIER/SALES CLERK

• Required Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalency.
• Education Preference: Community college, vocational business, technical, or correspondence school certificates are likely sources.
• Required Work Experience: One (1) year of experience in progressive clerical, money handling and cashiering responsibilities.

• Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
• Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
