Job Description

The  University of Notre Dame is more than a workplace! We are a vibrant, mission-driven community where every employee is valued and supported. Rooted in a tradition of excellence and inspired by our Catholic character, Notre Dame is committed to fostering an environment of care that nurtures the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Here, you will find a deep sense of belonging, a culture that prioritizes well-being, and the opportunity to grow your career while being a force for good in the world. Whether contributing to world-class research, shaping the student experience, or supporting the University’s mission in other ways, you will be part of a dedicated team working to make a meaningful impact on campus and beyond. At Notre Dame, your work matters, and so do you!

Job Description

Shape student journeys. Influence outcomes. Be the connector.

Are you someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, mentorship, and data? Do you enjoy helping students navigate big decisions while also working behind the scenes to ensure systems run smoothly? If so, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct and lasting impact on the student experience.

As an Academic Advisor, you will serve as both a trusted guide and a strategic partner — empowering students to take ownership of their academic path while supporting the broader mission of the College.

What You’ll Do:

Academic Advising & Student Success

You will be a key resource for students as they chart their academic and professional journeys. This includes:

  • Advising on degree requirements, majors, minors, concentrations, dual degrees, international study, internships, CPA requirements, service opportunities, and competitive awards
  • Supporting students navigating academic probation, dismissal, withdrawal, or return from leave — helping them rebuild confidence and create actionable plans
  • Guiding individualized academic planning to ensure timely and successful progress toward graduation
  • Helping students connect their academic decisions to long-term career goals

In this role, you are not just reviewing checklists - you are helping students make thoughtful, strategic decisions that shape their futures.

Administrative Strategy & Data Management

Behind every seamless student experience is thoughtful organization and data-informed decision-making. You will:

  • Maintain accurate and compliant student records
  • Utilize University and College systems such as Banner, GPS, OnBase, Grad Admin, PATH, NOVO, and Business Objects
  • Analyze and prepare reports that inform College leadership and support strategic planning

Your attention to detail and analytical mindset will directly support operational excellence.

College Engagement & Campus Partnership

This role extends beyond one-on-one advising. You will be a visible and engaged member of the College community by:

  • Assisting with commencement and recognition ceremonies
  • Representing the College at orientations, admissions events, and special programs
  • Serving as a liaison to an academic department, designated athletic teams, and select international study locations

You will build strong cross-campus relationships and help ensure students feel connected, supported, and seen.

Why This Role Matters

Academic advisors are often the first call when a student feels uncertain and the steady presence when they need clarity. In this position, you will play a critical role in student persistence, graduation success, and overall experience within the College.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree highly preferred ; Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience considered.
  • Three to four years of experience in academic advising, higher education administration, or related field.
  • Background in business or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy and work independently within established guidelines.

Additional Information

Compensation: Up to $65,000/year, commensurate with experience

This position will be accepting applications until March 20, 2026.
